CAH302 week6

This week, we start to move on the second project for Independent study which is the one I will work as a group with Jingwen. We had a short conversation to talk about what we need to do in this project. The main thing we will do in this part is that to show a musical lecture for “Learnline”. So that students could study relative musical knowledge by watching the online tutorial. 3 cameras were required, one for the front recording the lecture, another one for the beside recording, the third one for recording the hand of the lecturer when he play the piano. We also need a master audio recorder to record a high quality sound resource from the lecturer. Before we start recording we will organize the best location of recording and make sure the light is good enough for the final product.  We also need to have a practice before the recording. After recording, we should work on the editing of the resources from the 3 cameras and a master audio recorder. Anyway, that  sound a challenge work for us in Media study.  

CAH302 week5

This week, I finished my own project “Being a Territory”. During the process of editing for this project, I got a lot of problems and I also learnt a lot from fixing them. It improves my knowledge and study skill. In addition, it was a really good experience when I went to ask the question with the overseas students and workers. To talk with different nationality people improve my communication skills and I also learn a lot about the different cultures and thinking styles. It is very interesting to work on it. The editing gave me more experience and opportunity to use Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. So far, it provides a good opportunity for me to familiar with using New Media to create project. Communication is very important in the study of New Media.  

CAH302 week4

This week, I keep working on my project “Being a Territory”. Firstly, I went to Navitas which is an English class center. I can find many international students there. I collected the information which includes the different nationalities and the mean for them to live in the territory. I started to look for the flags of different countries from internet. Some of the flag images are come from “Flickr” which are creative commons images, some of them are made by using Photoshop. After collecting all the resources, editing is the most important thing in this project. I had talking with Peter that we want to show the flag images as the background one by one. The answers of the question will be showed by English and their home countries languages as the foreground in the project. So that it could be easy to compare the different languages with English and show people the multicultural lifestyle in the territory. During editing, I put the answer (both languages) on the flags by different ways and add transitions between each clip. However, I also have many problems during the editing, such as the video setting, the flash during the video and the position/front design. I still need to fix them and make it looks better.
